Leica just launched the Leica Q2, a 47.3MP compact camera that's the successor to the popular full-frame Leica Q. The Leica Q2, which has an attached (i.e. non-interchangeable) prime lens, features splash/dustproof construction, 4K video, an all-new OLED viewfinder and an improved Maestro image signal processor that has a base of ISO 50.

Leica just announced the full frame Leica Q2 Monochrom, a black-and-white-only version of the popular Leica Q2. Shutterbug was able to borrow an early sample before the announcement and we put her through the paces. Sporting the same sharp Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH non-interchangeable lens and a modified version of the 47.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, the new Leica Q2 Monochrom wears covert dress without the famous red Leica circle logo and has a new maximum ISO 100,000.

Leica turned back the clock (again) on its digital rangefinders today, announcing the M Edition 60 model that has no LCD screen on back, just a dial to adjust ISO. The limited edition camera (there will only be 600 made), which celebrates the 60th anniversary of Leica’s M series rangefinders, was unveiled by Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Leica’s chairman, at a press conference at the photokina show in Germany this morning.

DxO, the Paris, France-based company known mostly for software, introduced an intriguing new piece of imaging hardware this morning: a 20.2-megapixel camera with a 1-inch sensor and an f/1.8 lens that fits in your pocket and attaches to an iPhone. Called the DxO One, the 3.8-ounce, 2.65-inch tall camera, connects to an iPhone via the phone’s Lightning port, creating what the company hopes will be a photographic one-two punch to conquer the smartphone conundrum: that is, how do you shoot DSLR-quality images from a slender, inherently limited phone.

JK Imaging, Ltd., which is now the worldwide licensee for the Kodak brand,  PIXPRO Digital Cameras and Devices, has announced the new Kodak Pixpro SP360 Action Cam. This small and portable device was designed to capture 360-degree HD videos and fully immersive images all in one shot, ie. without the need for multiple cameras or other devices. The SP360 Action Cam is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and features a dome-shaped fixed lens that captures 360-degree HD videos (at 30fps) that can be shot and viewed from multiple vantage points including: 360-degree Panorama, Front (212 degrees), Split with 180 degrees front and rear views simultaneously, Dome (214 degrees) and Ring/Sphere (360 degrees) modes.
