Now that 2016 is done and dusted, we’ve had a chance to look back at all the cameras and lenses we reviewed this past year and have chosen ten of our absolute favorites. 

Another year has come and gone, which means it’s time for Shutterbug to once again pick our favorite cameras and lenses of the past 12 months. With so much great photo gear to choose from in 2017, it was a difficult task. The below list though is a good summation of the cameras and lenses Shutterbug’s editors and writers most enjoyed shooting with last year.

When it comes to digital cameras, Sigma dances to the beat of its own drummer. Now more than ever this holds true with the 24.6MP Sigma fp ($1899), the company’s first full-frame mirrorless camera.

The Sigma Corporation just unveiled the new the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens, which the company says is "a completely new design for full-frame mirrorless cameras, as the 'DN' designation indicates." This fast aperture Sigma portrait prime lens, which has a compact, dust-and splash-proof design, comes in both L-Mount and Sony E-Mount versions for mirrorless cameras.

The sd Quattro H is Sigma’s second mirrorless camera based on a Foveon sensor that uses lenses with an SA mount. Compared to the first sd Quattro, which was introduced in summer 2016, the new camera offers a larger sensor, a more rugged yet still compact DSLR-style camera build, and a host of new features.

Photographers who like shooting in black-and-white have a newly styled option to choose from. A silver chrome version of the black-and-white-only Leica M Monochrom rangefinder camera has finally gone on sale.
