This morning Sony introduced a new flagship mirrorless camera, the a6500, which claims to have the world’s fastest AF speed and the highest number of AF points with in-camera 5-axis image stabilization. The camera features Sony’s acclaimed 4D Focus system, which can acquire focus in a mere 0.05 seconds.

Sony just launched its latest prime lens for its mirrorless cameras: the new Sony FE 35mm F1.8 lens. We got our hands on this new Sony FE lens prior to this morning's launch and had a chance to shoot with it for a few hours. This morning Sony announced it has overtaken Nikon in the U.S. market for full-frame interchangeable lens cameras, one spot behind industry leader Canon. Sony leapfrogged Nikon because of the company’s 23% growth in this category with record sales in both interchangeable-lens cameras and lenses in 2017.

Sony just announced the Alpha 7C, which the company is calling the world's smallest and lightest full frame camera body. The A7C is similar in design to Sony's compact A6000 series of mirrorless cameras, which use APS-C sensors, but boasts a 24.2MP full frame sensor and shooting features similar to the larger Sony A7 III full frame model.

Sony has released new firmware updates for the A7R, A7R II, A7S, A7, A7 II and A6000 cameras.  For the A7R II, A7II, A7R, and A7S cameras, Update 3.10 includes support for new lenses as well as support for phase-detection AF.

Sony just introduced the long-awaited Sony A7S III mirrorless camera, which is designed for shooting photos and videos in extreme light without a flash. The Sony A7S III is the follow-up to the A7S II from 2015 and features an array of updates designed to improve on that camera, which had been dubbed the "Low-Light King" by some photographers and videographers.
