If you’ve been lusting after a full-frame mirrorless camera, but thought you couldn’t afford one, it’s time to reconsider. That’s because the new Canon EOS RP is significantly less expensive than other full-frame mirrorless cameras, yet boasts an impressive array of advanced features, robust weather-resistant construction, and impressive performance to boot.

Without a doubt, two of the most talked-about mirrorless cameras in the past year have been the Nikon Z6 and Sony A7 III. In fact, these mirrorless full framers finished #1 and #2 in our annual list of the Top 10 Cameras and Lenses of 2018.

Classic digital camera expert Mattias Burling does a great job on his YouTube channel of spotlighting slightly older cameras that are still worth buying today. In his latest video, he takes a look at a mirrorless model that might have been ahead of its time: the Olympus Pen E-P1 from 2009.

Shutterbug was at Sony’s USA headquarters in San Diego, CA last week for the launch of the A6400 mirrorless camera, which features a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor image sensor and Sony’s latest BIONZ X image processor. Sony claims that the A6400, which is designed for photo enthusiasts and those moving up from smartphone cameras, has “the world’s fastest autofocus” at 0.02 seconds for AF acquisition.

They are three of the most talked about full frame mirrorless cameras on the market right now: the 30.3MP Canon EOS R, the 45.6MP Nikon Z7 and the 42.4MP Sony A7R III. Which one is the best of this power trio?

Of all the major camera manufacturers, Canon is typically viewed as the most conservative and the most traditional. It’s also been, arguably, the most successful.
