RICOH Launches Rugged (and Odd Looking) WG-M1 Digital Action Camera

Your photographic journey may lead you from snow-covered mountaintops to lonely forests and the dark depths of the ocean. No matter where you find yourself, the RICOH WG-M1 was designed to be an imaging companion for outdoor adventures. This lightweight digital camera is designed to be easy to use (featuring large control buttons) and was built to function in a variety of extreme environments.

The RICOH WG-M1 digital camera is WiFi enabled and waterproof up to a depth of 32 feet (10 meters)—without the need for a protective housing—and offers up to one hour of continuous operation. Simply mount the included underwater lens protector on to the airtight body. It is shock resistant against a fall from a height of 6 feet (2 meters) and cold resistant to temperatures as low as -10˚C.

The WG-M1 features an ultra wide-angle lens, a 1.5” LCD monitor and can capture dynamic full HD movies in the H.264 recording format (1920x1080 pixels, 16:9 proportions) at a rate of 30 fps. The Digital Shake Reduction mode ensures blur free movies and the multitasking feature allows user to check real-time images during both still and video recording. There are 4 angle of view settings: Wide, Medium, Narrow and Underwater.

The WG-M1 offers high resolution still images captured with an ultra-wide-angle (160˚ lens), approximately 14.0 effective megapixels and a high speed, continuous shooting capability at speed of roughly 10 images per second. It is compatible with micro SD and micro SDHC memory cards and comes with a carabineer-equipped strap for easy carrying, a WG adhesive mount (to attach the camera to different surfaces using a powerful adhesive tape) and there are numerous optional accessories available including a grip adapter, angle adapter, adhesive mount 2, a wrist strap mount, a helmet mount, a peg mount and a magnet mount.

The WG-M1 digital camera will be available nationwide in October 2014 for a suggested retail price of $299.95.
