Lightroom Keyboard Shortcuts for Faster, Smarter Photo Editing (VIDEO)

If you are like most photographers you’d rather be out shooting than sitting behind a computer processing images. Of course editing photos is a necessary part of the process; so today we’re bringing you a bunch of Lightroom keyboard shortcuts that will help you work faster and smarter.

Anthony Morganti is one of our favorite instructors, and he’s a keyboard-shortcut connoisseur. In the video below he shares many of his favorites. They include tricks for navigating your workspace, jumping between different modules, speeding up the use of various tools, and much more.

Morganti is a Mac user, but he explains the slight difference in keystrokes for those working on a PC. For example, the Command key on a Mac is called a Control key on a PC. Similarly, when he says Option key for those using Macs, that equates to the Alt key on a PC.

To make things super simple, the description beneath the video includes a list of all the shortcuts mentioned in this episode. And they’re divided by computer platform. That way you can easily copy and past them into a cheat sheet, and print it out for future reference.

While watching the video you’ll learn on how instantly jump to the Library Module, in single-image or grid view, and there’s another keyboard shortcut for quickly accessing the Develop Module.

There are navigational shortcuts too, for viewing before/after images or looking at them side-by-side or over-and-under. For quicker use of Lightroom’s most popular tools there are keystrokes for opening the Crop tool, changing the cursor to the Angle tool, and opening various filters and making them do exactly what you want.

The cool thing about all this is that these keyboard shortcuts quickly become second nature, at which point you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them.

After watching the video head over to Morganti’s YouTube channel for more tips and tricks. And check out our earlier tutorial, explaining how to use Lightroom’s HSL panel for better landscape photos.
