This infrared black-and-white photograph captures the enigmatic essence of the historic adobe church, San Francisco de Asis. Its venerable walls, sculpted by the hands of time, rise with majestic yet mysterious grace, tapering towards twin bell towers that reach into a sky imbued with profound drama. The ornately detailed wooden door stands as a sentinel, a portal framed by an arched silhouette of timeless beauty.
While staying in Taos, my wife and I visited the San Francisco de Asis Mission Church in Rancho de Taos. Inspired by Ansel Adams' iconic work, I felt compelled to capture this historic site. Using my Nikon Z7ii with an 850nm infrared filter, I photographed the scene at 1/100 sec, f/5.6, and ISO 320. This image blends the past with the dreamlike qualities of infrared photography, creating a sanctuary where reality and imagination converge.
