Canon just introduced the new PowerShot SX740 HS compact digital camera, which has a 40x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 24-960mm), a 20.3MP CMOS imaging sensor and 4K video capabilities, a first in the PowerShot camera series, according to Canon USA.

Fujifilm just introduced a new compact camera, which it hopes can compete with the onslaught of smartphone cameras. Called the Fujifilm XF10, the pocket-sized, lightweight (just under 10 ounces) camera has a Fujinon 18.5mm F2.8 fixed lens.

Shutterbug, a member of the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), once again joined forces with 30 other member magazines from around the world to choose the winners of the annual TIPA Awards for the best photo/imaging products in 40 different categories. The award process began in early 2017 with an initial selection of a wide range of products conducted by TIPA’s Technical Committee, on which Shutterbug’s Editor-at-Large George Schaub serves.
