Adobe announced this morning that final release versions of Lightroom 5.6 and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 are now available.

Adobe customers can can get the apps through the update mechanism in Photoshop CC and Photoshop CS6, or through the download links at the bottom of this page. Adobe says these updates correct "issues reported in earlier versions of Lightroom 5 and Camera Raw 8," without being specific about what those issues were.

Canon took the wraps off two new compact, superzoom cameras this morning: the PowerShot SX520 HS and the PowerShot SX400 IS digital cameras. The new PowerShot SX520 HS features a whopping 42x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent to 24-1008mm) and the PowerShot SX400 IS has a 30x Optical Zoom (equivalent to 24-720mm).

Jeff Cable is one of many photographers these days discovering the glories of shooting aerial video and images with remote-controlled imaging drones. Cable recently turned his good buddy and Apple Computer legend Steve "Woz" Wozniak on to how easy and fun it is to fly these drones and shot a short video of the experience.

Hasselblad's gone "back to the future" with a new digital back designed to bring its V System analog cameras into the 21st Century. Called the CFV-50c, the CMOS sensor-based back will sell for 11,000 Euros (approximately $14,900) and is designed to work with "almost every V camera made by the company since 1957," Hasselblad said
