Shutterbug once again partnered with GuruShots for another terrific photo challenge. This time the theme was "Animal World," where we asked photographers to submit photos that showed off their love of the animal kingdom.

And boy did we get some amazing images of animals! From the carnivorous big cats of Africa to the towering elephants of the East, photo entries to the "Animal World" challenge ran the gamut, covering a range of creatures large and small.

Thousands upon thousands of photo entries were submitted in the challenge and over 61 million votes were tallied. In the end, three photos were named winners in the Top Photographer, Top Photo, and Guru's Top Pick categories. We've included those winning images below, along with seven runners-up. At the bottom of this post is a slideshow gallery with the rest of the runners-up in the Animal World challenge.
