Shutterbug Photo of the Day: “Havasu Falls” by Rick Bergstrom

Our Shutterbug Photo of the Day by Rick Bergstrom features a dramatic waterfall cascading down a rugged cliff into the pool far below.

“Havasu Falls is in a deep canyon leading to the Colorado River. Located on Havasupai Tribal lands, it is reached after a 12-mile hike. Travertine formations at the falls are created from minerals in the water; over time the water droplets have precipitated away leaving these intricate formations. Minerals in the water give it that aquamarine, milky appearance,” writes Bergstrom.
