During the summers I swim daily at the community pool; and one noon, on my way to the pool for laps, I found a dragonfly resting on the top step leading down from the deck. When I returned from the swim, the dragonfly was still there, as if waiting to pose for its portrait. The backdrop is a corroded baking sheet, also a found object, though not on my steps but at the foot of a dune. Nikon F3, 2.8/55 Nikkor micro with Nikon polarizer and Kodachrome 64, Manfrotto tripod, cable release. Transparency processed normally, scanned in a Nikon LS4000 and developed in Photoshop CS3. The baking sheet continues to be photographed in an ongoing relationship as we mutually age.
