Tamron said this morning it is developing three new lenses that will be available soon: two new lenses for full-frame DSLR cameras—the 35-150mm F/2.8-4 Di VC OSD (Model A043) zoom lens and the SP 35mm F/1.4 Di USD (Model F045) fixed focal lens; and a new high-speed ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras—the 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046).

Nikon just unveiled the new Nikkor Z 24-70MM f/2.8 S lens, the latest S-Line lens for the Nikon Z Series full frame mirrorless cameras including the Z7 and Z6. The Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens is a fast-aperture zoom lens that is designed for a variety of content creators thanks to its zoom range, fast aperture, edge-to-edge sharpness and compact/lightweight design, Nikon said.

Creating photo books on American railroads are a good part of my workload, so telephoto lenses are what I often turn to for my train photography. Extremely heavy and often dangerous, locomotives and rolling stock require a wide berth for safety’s sake. As a professional photographer who emphasizes travel images and loves to apply special techniques, I most often carry a rather full kit of lenses and a back-up DSLR, plus filters and a tripod.
