Sony got in the game this morning by unveiling the super speedy Sony A9 full frame mirrorless camera, which is designed for sports and action photography. The A9 features what Sony is calling the “world’s first” full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with 24.2MP of resolution, and it has the ability to shoot “blackout-free” bursts of images at up to 20 frames per second (fps) for up to 241 Raw or 362 JPEG images.

Fujifilm was showing off its new toys at photokina today and we got some hands-on time with these latest X-series cameras and lenses. Initially announced on September 10^th, the Fujifilm X100T and XT-1 Graphite Silver cameras, and Fujinon XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR and XF56mm F1.2 R APD lenses continue to build on Fuji’s compact and retro-style (Fuji would say “classic" style) X-Series line.

The recent CES show in Las Vegas saw the debut of the Panasonic GH5S, a mirrorless camera designed specifically to shoot in low light conditions. We got to see the GH5S in action at the show and shot the below video featuring Panasonic Lumix USA product manager Sean Robinson and the much buzzed about camera.

Canon joined the full frame mirrorless camera market by introducing the new 30.3MP Canon EOS R last night and today we had our first chance to take it for a ride. Shutterbug is one of a select group of U.S. media to attend a special Canon R launch event in Hawaii and we spent the afternoon shooting with a full production Canon R and the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM “kit” lens at set-ups with models in Maui.

Shutterbug was at Sony’s USA headquarters in San Diego, CA last week for the launch of the A6400 mirrorless camera, which features a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor image sensor and Sony’s latest BIONZ X image processor. Sony claims that the A6400, which is designed for photo enthusiasts and those moving up from smartphone cameras, has “the world’s fastest autofocus” at 0.02 seconds for AF acquisition.

Nikon has officially launched the new 24.3MP Nikon Z5, an entry-level FX-format (full frame) mirrorless camera designed for photo enthusiast photographers and "emerging creators." Nikon also announced it has expanded its NIKKOR Z lens lineup with the addition of the new compact and versatile NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens as well as two new Z TELECONVERTERS: TC-2.0X and TC-1.4X.
