Last month we wrote about a patent filed by Canon for a “smaller and lighter” 1000mm f/5.6 DO super telephoto lens. Well, now they’re at it again—this time with a crazy EF 40-800mm f/4.5-5.6 wide-range zoom for full-frame cameras. 

Last week’s video tour inside Ansel Adams’ studio proved so popular that we decided to give you another treat: The inside scoop on how the master made “Moon and Half Dome”—one of his most iconic images. In this video you’ll take a drive with Ansel on his way make the photo and hear his son Michael describe the details and the darkroom magic used to create the final result.

We’ve shared some pretty incredible time-lapse videos, but this one shot by Joe Capra of Scientifantastic may just be the most detailed yet. In some circles Capra is know as a “time-lapse genius,” and this five-minute video gives you an idea why.

Scotland’s Loch Goil is a beautiful place, and perhaps even more so when viewed from above in this video of Tilly the Golden Eagle soaring over a small sea loch near the village of Lochgoilhead. Tilly captured the spectacular footage with the help of bird specialist Lloyd Buck who strapped a $499 Giroptic 360cam to her back.

The latest video from the Cooperative of Photography (COOPH) takes you on a psychedelic, three-minute journey on how to create some really amazing UV blacklight images. All you really need is some imagination and either a simple UV flashlight, lamp or specialized head for your flash unit.

Photographer Nick Carver says, “There’s no better satisfaction than framing a print to hang on the wall. Creating a tangible, real-life piece of wall art is far more rewarding than uploading a file to Instagram or Flickr.” In the video below, Carver takes you through his process and describes the equipment he uses.

Here’s a fascinating video by French photographer Nède Nède who used a chest-mounted GoPro Hero4 Black to demonstrate the early collodion process invented by Englishman Frederick Scott in 1851. The technique involved adding soluble iodide to a solution of cellulose nitrate and coating a glass plate with the mixture.
