The latest video from the Cooperative of Photography (COOPH) takes you on a psychedelic, three-minute journey on how to create some really amazing UV blacklight images. All you really need is some imagination and either a simple UV flashlight, lamp or specialized head for your flash unit.

Photographer Nick Carver says, “There’s no better satisfaction than framing a print to hang on the wall. Creating a tangible, real-life piece of wall art is far more rewarding than uploading a file to Instagram or Flickr.” In the video below, Carver takes you through his process and describes the equipment he uses.

Here’s a fascinating video by French photographer Nède Nède who used a chest-mounted GoPro Hero4 Black to demonstrate the early collodion process invented by Englishman Frederick Scott in 1851. The technique involved adding soluble iodide to a solution of cellulose nitrate and coating a glass plate with the mixture.

Documentary photographer Walker Evans (1903-1975) was not only one of America’s most influential artists of the 20th century; he was a superb visual storyteller. His approach to photography was simple: “Stare. It is a way to educate your eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long.”

Our Weird Lens Guru Mattieu Stern is at it again; this time with a review of a Jupiter 21M 200mm f/4 “tank lens” that he says has “astonishing contrast and bokeh.” Stern adds that the first time he used this lens he was “blown away by the quality.”
