The Saharan dust has an impact on thunderstorm size and development. The tops are not as high in the upper atmosphere and meteorologists call them "shorties". I heard thunder a few nights ago and couldn't believe what I was viewing on mobile pocket radar. This storm was forming 10 miles right off the beach and just raining itself out for about 45 minutes. SLEEPWALKING at 1:30 in the morning, I set up the rig and was dealing with a beach that has a moderate grade to it. It created some challenges that can be corrected to a degree with Photoshop. Save the shot if possible is how I look at it. Anyhow, LE with lightning is exciting and a location I can't deny helps set up crazy composition opportunities.
