DEVIL'S ISLAND was a living death for all who were sent there to serve out their court sentences. There was no way off the island that did not lead to death by drowning, exposure, sharks and many other forms of death. Prisoners lived life at the lowest level of survival. The decisive moment was when they stood on the high cliffs in preparation for throwing themselves to sure death in the rocks below.
