The FUJIFILM X30 Compact Fixed Lens Camera

FUJIFILM just introduced their new X30 premium compact, fixed lens camera. Designed with enthusiast and professional photographers in mind, the X30 offers a wide variety of new features and the award-winning image quality that the FUJIFILM X series is best known for. The stylish body is crafted from durable, lightweight die cast magnesium alloy with a tilting 3” premium clear LCD monitor (920K-dot), an EXR Processor II (for high speed and low noise) and a 12MP 2/3” X-Trans CMOS II sensor. The X30 offers increased battery performance, a Real Time Viewfinder (with a magnification of 0.65x) and a display lag time of 0.005seconds.

The lens—made up of 11 glass elements in 9 groups including 3 aspherical elements and 2 ED lens elements—has a wide-angle maximum aperture of f/2.0, a telephoto maximum aperture of f/2.8 and it incorporates 7 diaphragm blades for a soft “bokeh” effect. The optical 4x manual zoom lens offers fast, precise control over composition and the X30 has an image stabilization mechanism that shifts 5 lens elements to compensate for camera shake by up to 4 stops. The FUJIFILM X30 incudes 2 rings on the lens: a manual zoom ring and a control ring. There are 2 top-plate dials and 6 function buttons positioned on the back of the body for quick access to the more regularly used functions. Other features include an intelligent hybrid AF, the Classic Chrome and other Film Simulation modes, a pop-up super intelligent flash, Super Macro mode (to .039”), a focus peaking function, motion panorama 360, advanced filters, multiple exposure, full HD video (1080p/60 fps), free FUJIFILM camera remote application and a wireless communication function for use with smartphones/tablets and a live histogram.

Accessories include a genuine leather case (LC-X30), a lens hood and protector filter (LHF-X30), a shoe mount flash and an external stereo microphone (MIC-ST1). The FUJIFILM X30 will be available in late September 2014; the suggested retail price is $599.95.
