Shutterbug reader Bill Tiepelman captured this profile of a beautiful red-bellied woodpecker in his backyard in Wentzville, Missouri. An avid bird watcher, Tiepelman has on old swing set in his backyard that he repurposed into a bird sanctuary in an effort to “attract as many species as possible.” He captured this shot from a bird blind he set up early one morning, as he often does. Tiepelman used a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and a Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC lens at 375mm, ISO 1000, f/5.6, 1/800 second. To view more of Tiepelman’s avian photos, visit unfocussed.com.
