This is a small island of Bald Cypress trees in Venice, Louisiana. The trees help stabilize these islands and they also provide ready and convenient perches for the many water birds, including cormorants and brown pelicans, fishing the surrounding area. I think the birds give a nice boost of vitality to the scene. Minor adjustments were made using Photoshop Elements 11 and Nik Silver Efex Pro was used for the black and white conversion.
