We wrap up our video coverage of the WPPI show in Las Vegas last week with this hands-on look at the new Nikon D500, a relatively compact APS-C sensor-based DSLR aimed at photo enthusiasts and aspiring pros.

The Nikon D5 was announced in early January but it’s only just now making its debut in the United States. We got some early hands-on time with Nikon’s newest flagship full-frame DSLR at the WPPI show in Las Vegas this week.

Phew, what a busy month it’s been for new photo gear! While the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has not, traditionally, been a major event to debut high-end photography equipment, CES 2016 was definitely an exception with dozens of interesting imaging releases. (And hopefully this is a trend that continues at future CES events, which, in recent years have been rather ho-hum for photography gear.)

At the PhotoPlus Expo 2015 show in New York City this week, we met up with Wasim Ahmad from Canon who showed us all the key features of the brand new 20-megapixel Canon PowerShot G5 X compact camera in this short take video.

Photokina 2014 in Germany has been covered widely on the Internet already—including our own extensive reporting on the show on Shutterbug.com—so there’s no need for me to rehash the major announcements from the event, such as the latest full-frame cameras from Canon and Nikon and the like. My photo report here is aimed at sharing some wider ranging thoughts and perspectives on this important biennial show and what it told us about photography today and where it might be heading tomorrow.

Yes, as we predicted, there’s been a ton of new photo gear announced for the photokina 2014 show in Cologne, Germany. We’re still in Cologne covering the show and there’s been so much photo gear news this past week, it’s actually hard for even us to remember some of what’s been announced.
