The X-S1 is Fujifilm’s newest bridge camera based on the same large EXR sensor (2/3 in) used in the company’s X-10 camera. The camera offers an extreme zoom lens (26x) for a (35mm equivalent) range of 24mm-624mm. An optical image stabilizer aids in preventing motion blur when using the extreme tele setting or shooting under low light conditions.

Fujifilm’s X100s follows the X100 and offers enhanced imaging features and functions. The most important difference is the new sensor--the X-Trans CMOS sensor uses aspecial RGB mosaic pattern and offers higher resolution compared to the sensor in the X100. The new sensor has special mirco lenses that result in a very sharp and brilliant image, which is then enhanced further with the camera’s new EXR II image processor.

The Fujifilm X100T is the newest camera of the X model series. It uses an APS-C sized sensor with 16MP and has a 23mm integral lens, equivalent to nearly 35mm in 35mm film format. The lens is fast at f2.0 and offers very sharp, crisp images.

The Fujifilm XF1 has a compact body with a retro design that is emphasized by the optional black, brown or red artificial leather and the matte metal finish. The camera doesn’t have an on/off switch but is activated by turning the lens ring on the camera front. This then opens the lens cover and extends the lens system.

Every zealous photographer I know would enjoy owning a compact camera that has a large sensor, full manual options and available Raw format. Throw in a wide-angle lens, great performance in high ISO/low light situations and a size that fits in your pocket and you have a winner anyone would relish. That brings us to the Fujifilm XF10. Or does it? I had a chance to use one for an extended period. Read my evaluation in this review.

Fuji's FinePix S100FS (Film Simulation) is an electronic viewfinder digicam that's designed to produce film-like images at the point of capture. How it does it is not all that different than a D-SLR set on Picture Styles or similar, but the S100FS does this with menu items with such magical names as Provia and Velvia, Fujifilm's renowned slide emulsions. Overlooked...

Calling a product “state-of-the-art” can be a double-edged sword, one that includes both the leading edge and the bleeding edge. In the case of the Samsung EX2F there’s more of the leading side of the equation, at least when it come to a fun, portable camera that delivers in more ways than one—especially when it comes to connecting you from camera to email, sharing sites, et al.

Fujifilm was showing off its new toys at photokina today and we got some hands-on time with these latest X-series cameras and lenses. Initially announced on September 10th, the Fujifilm X100T and XT-1 Graphite Silver cameras, and Fujinon XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR and XF56mm F1.2 R APD lenses continue to build on Fuji’s compact and retro-style (Fuji would say “classic" style) X-Series line.

Notes On Our Tests
This month-long test was not intended as a scientific experiment for drawing definitive conclusions about all of the technical aspects involved. That would require testing numerous cameras--of all brands--under strictly controlled conditions and using high-tech equipment for image-quality analyses.

Because we were...

It’s July and Leica just confirmed that I can pick up a sample of the new LEICA Q (Typ 116) digital camera at their headquarters tomorrow. I became eager to try one after reading Dan Havlik’s hands-on, first-look review last month. Leica is allowing me to borrow the sample for exactly six days. Here's my look at this intriguing but expensive new full-frame, compact camera from Leica.

Leica just launched the Leica Q2, a 47.3MP compact camera that's the successor to the popular full-frame Leica Q. The Leica Q2, which has an attached (i.e. non-interchangeable) prime lens, features splash/dustproof construction, 4K video, an all-new OLED viewfinder and an improved Maestro image signal processor that has a base of ISO 50.

Leica just announced the full frame Leica Q2 Monochrom, a black-and-white-only version of the popular Leica Q2. Shutterbug was able to borrow an early sample before the announcement and we put her through the paces. Sporting the same sharp Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH non-interchangeable lens and a modified version of the 47.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, the new Leica Q2 Monochrom wears covert dress without the famous red Leica circle logo and has a new maximum ISO 100,000.
