Peter Read Miller at Kingston’s Icons of Photography Website
Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced that award-winning sports photographer Peter Read Miller has published a new series of tips and techniques on how to get great shots during a football game for the Kingston Icons of Photography Web site.
"Whether it's your favorite professional or local school team, Miller's
tips will be invaluable for those who want to capture great action shots like
a pro," said Jaja Lin, Flash product marketing manager, Kingston.
During his lengthy career as a sports photographer, Miller has covered a wealth
of football games. In this month's tip, Miller discusses the value of
preparation for shooting football and how the work one does off the field helps
ensure being in the right place at the right time when on the field.
"If you're going to shoot a sport as complex and demanding as football,
you have to be prepared," said Miller. "Understanding the sport
and the strategy of the sport are really essential to capturing great photos.
Most people take this for granted and they shouldn't. It could mean the
difference between shooting like a pro and sitting on the bench," added
Miller.
A sports photographer for more than 30 years, Miller's career evolved
from a high school hobby. He has shot for Sports Illustrated for more than 20
years and has more than 90 covers to his credit. Miller attended the University
of Southern California where he shot for both the yearbook and athletic department.
In addition to Sports Illustrated, other editorial
clients include: Time, Life, People, Money, Playboy, Runner's World, USA
Weekend and The New York Times. Corporate clients include: Nike, Adidas, Footlocker,
Eastman Kodak, ABC Television, Panasonic, Coca-Cola, Visa, The National Football
League Properties and Canon Cameras.
Developed to profile some of the world's most respected photographers,
Kingston's Icons of Photography portal on the Kingston Web site features
a different Icon each month, spotlighting his or her tips, techniques and an
online gallery of images. Advice and anecdotes are shared for taking better
pictures on topics ranging from lighting and backgrounds, to color profiling
and making the most of one's equipment. Through `try it yourself'
suggestions, Icons explain how they tackle their own photography challenges.
