Turning Your Hobby Into Cash
By Ron Leach
While all Shutterbug readers are serious about imaging, some consider photography a career while others shoot for the pure pleasure of the creative process. We regularly hear from a third type of photographer: photo enthusiasts who don't want to give up their day jobs, but would still like to supplement their incomes by selling their imagery.
For those of you who would like to begin shooting for profit, as well as for fun, we are putting the finishing touches on a new Shutterbug program that will help you take the plunge. With our help, you will be able to sell your images using Shutterbug's customizable gallery/fulfillment/billing system without investing in complicated or expensive infrastructure. In short, you shoot the images and we'll handle the rest.
This new program uses proven tools, a versatile workflow, and enables you to get started right away. Best yet, Shutterbug's participation will be transparent to your customers and everything from your online galleries to your paperwork will carry your personal branding.
We will formally announce the program next month--both on our website and in Shutterbug's November issue which hits the newsstands on October 16. So pick up a copy of our next issue, check out shutterbug.com, grab your camera and start shooting for profit!
