Epson Intros 24-Inch & 44-Inch Photo Printers with 12 Inks: the SureColor P7570 and P9570

Epson just unveiled two massive new photo printers in its SureColor P-Series line: – the 24-inch SureColor P7570 and 44-inch SureColor P9570. Both new Epson wide-format printers are designed for professional photographers and serious photo enthusiasts who like to print their images big – really big! – for gallery shows and museum-level display.

The Epson SureColor P7570 and P9570 photo printers use the company's new UltraChrome PRO12 12-color ink set, which Epson says features the widest color gamut it in its class and requires no switching of Photo Black and Matte Black inks – a timely process that can burn through ink. The two new printers also feature Epson's revamped 2.6-inch PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead with dedicated nozzles for both Matte and Photo Black inks, which the company says helps delivers print speeds up to 2.4 times faster than the previous generation printhead.

Meanwhile, a new print mode – Black Enhanced Overcoat – is designed to deliver improved DMAX for a wider contrast ratio in photo prints, better black density and clarity, improved sharpness, and reduced gloss differential on glossy and metallic media.

Other features of the Epson SureColor P7570 and P9570 printers include a sealed roll media door to improve dust control; an in-printer LED light that lets you view photos while they're printing out; the ability to handle both roll and cut sheet media; a new top-loading cut-sheet feeder door; and an internal rotary cutter designed to more smoothly cut most photographic and fine art roll-media types. The Epson printers also have a new customizable user interface featuring a 4.3-inch color touchscreen control panel and redesigned retractable catch basket to help simplify printing and reduce production errors.

According to Epson, the new Epson SureColor P7570 and P9570 photo printers offer "industry-leading print permance," and can create photo prints "that last up to 200 years color and 400 years black-and-white." There's also an optional Epson SpectroProofer, which automates color calibration and proof verification tasks for proofing applications with optional third-party RIP and workflow software. The printers are compatible with most third-party RIP workflow software.
