Nikon’s new AF-S Nikkor 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR zoom lens is a big piece of glass, that is for sure. We saw just how big at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas where we got up close and personal with the new Nikkor telephoto zoom lens.

Photokina in Cologne, Germany this week has been (largely) about high-end cameras and there’s not much higher-end than what Leica unveiled at the show: the S3 camera. The 45.7MP Nikon D850 has been one of the hottest cameras on the market since it launched in the late summer. At the PhotoPlus Expo show in New York City last week, we took a closer look at this full frame DSLR with Steve Heiner, Nikon USA’s senior technical manager.

Woah people, this is a big one! It’s not just a part of a camera we're giving away this time, it’s a WHOLE camera and lens. And it’s not just any ol’ camera, it's the highly desirable 24.2MP Sony Alpha A7 III full frame mirrorless camera with a 28-70mm lens. (And, oh yeah, we're also giving away four Amazon gift cards to boot.)

I don't just use clouds in many of my photographs; I actively pursue them for my images. If I hear a storm is a few days out, I'll travel to meet it. I'm not talking about hurricanes—I'll travel away from one of those; but give me an approaching garden-variety Florida storm, and I'll be there.

Here’s a great photo challenge to test your creativity this weekend: try to take as many unique images as you can of just one object. Tough assignment, right?

Our favorite weird lens guru Mathieu Stern has been testing out some unusual Soviet-era Russian lens and the results have been surprisingly impressive. In fact, in the below video, Stern pairs the Jupiter-9 85mm F/2 portrait lens on a Sony A7 II mirrorless camera and some of his still photos and video are actually quite amazing.
