"Tempestuous Sunset:" This was the climax of the stormy sunset that I witnessed my first day in Bisti Badlands. As I described in a previous photo, all day had been completely cloudy, extremely windy, and cold. The storm cell began building as the sun started to set, and the clouds completely changed direction so that they ended up encircling me; due to the fact that they were dumping cold snow and I was 2 miles from the car with all my gear, I was truly thankful that somehow I was spared the precipitation from being directly overhead!
