Shutterbug Photo of the Day

Our Shutterbug Photo of the Day by Joe Doherty features a lush landscape, its vibrant green tones offset by the deep blue color of the sky.

“Hot Creek on a cold morning is a serpentine swirl of mist, and has visual interest even when the sun isn't shining. But then the clouds parted a little, and the sun strafed the landscape," writes Doherty. "I clambered up an escarpment to capture the rapidly changing light, and had about 10 good minutes to shoot before the weather closed in again. We waited a few minutes for an encore that never came. When it was clear that the sun had left the building, we headed for breakfast at Tom's Place, and planned the rest of the day."

The image was captured with a Nikon D600 and a 28-300mm Nikon zoom lens at 36mm, ISO 200, 1/90 sec at f/16, Gitzo 2541 tripod and a ReallyRightStuff ballhead.
