This photo was taken in July 2009 on Fernandina, a volcanic island in the Galapagos. At that time, a cactus was the only plant-life to have taken hold in the area of an old lava flow. The photo was taken with a Nikon D300 camera and a 16-85 mm VR lens at 65 mm. The exposure was f/9 and 1/250 sec.
