Photokina Launch: Nikon Intros New Line of Three KeyMission Action Cameras and Accessories

This morning at Photokina in Cologne, Germany Nikon launched their new line of KeyMission action cameras with three models that will ship next month along with a host of accessories. The new cameras include the KeyMission 360 we previewed at CES in January, along with the KeyMission 170 offering 4K UHD video and the wearable KeyMission 80.

Designed for immersive 360° video, the KeyMission 360 delivers 4K UHD video at 24p (3840x2160) or Full HD (1080p) in a compact waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof package without the need for a housing. The camera is submersible to a depth of 98 ft. and is operable to temperatures as low at 14° F. With two f/2.0 lenses and two 20-megapixel sensors, the camera is designed to provide superb 360° videos and photos without blind spots.

Other features of the KeyMission 360 include Nikon’s Electronic Vibration Reduction, in-camera microphone, and a variety of creative capabilities like superlapse, time lapse and loop movies. The camera can also capture 360°, 30-megapixel still images.

The new KeyMission 170 is named for its super-wide 170° angle of view, and features an f/2.8 lens and 8.3-megapixel CMOS sensor for 4K UHD or 1080p Full HD video. This rugged unit is waterproof to a depth of 33 ft. and freezeproof to 14° F without a housing. It sports a rear LCD for framing shots, viewing your results, and changing settings.

This model also features Electronic Vibration Reduction to minimize camera shake as well as a standard ¼-inch tripod socket and a base adapter that connects to a variety of accessories.

The wearable KeyMission 80 is a unique lifestyle camera for capturing everyday activities at home or while traveling and features both time lapse and interval timer functions. It features a 25mm lens with an 80° angle of view for high-quality videos and still images, as well as a front-facing 22mm f/2.2 lens and 5-megapixel sensor for quick selfies on the go. This small, rugged camera is waterproof to 3.2 ft. and freezeproof to 14° F. It also features a 1.75-inch LCD for framing shots, changing settings, and playing back your files.

All three KeyMission cameras will be available next month. The KeyMission 360, KeyMission 170 and KeyMission 80 will carry suggested retail prices of $499.95, $399.95, and $279.95 respectively. You can read complete details about the cameras and accessories on the Nikon website.
