The birds in the Galapagos, including the small songbirds, are quite tolerant of photographers. That allowed me to capture close-up feather detail of this Large Ground Finch. The photo was taken on Genovesa Island from a distance of about 9 feet. The camera was a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 70-300 mm VR lens at 195 mm. The exposure was f/8 and 1/500 sec.
