Every year in early May, the birding world unites at The Biggest Week in American Birding. An annual festival that this year brought people from 48 states and many countries together to witness the annual bird migration through northern Ohio. This Northern Parula delighted many, dancing up and down, in and out of the branches of a crabapple tree at the Magee Marsh boardwalk, just north of the Black Swamp Bird Observatory on Lake Erie. Here many birds stop to rest and refuel before flying over the great lake to breed. I wanted to showcase the fun nature of this bird, and it's amazing array of color and feathers in a bit of a non-traditional bird portrait. Photo made with a Canon 7D Mark ii and Canon 200-400mm f/4. Major props to Canon Professional Services for being at the event to service and loan out gear. The service was, as always, stellar!
