While my wife and I were walking in light rain along a path in Glacier National Park, a hiker came running down the trail and said that there was a moose cow and calf up the trail a short distance. We walked in the along until we found the pair and began to take photos of their activities. They seemed comfortable with people present and the cow even layed down after this photo while the calf scratched its neck on a small evergreen covering their rumps. A short time later a person came running up the trail to see, causing the cow to rise and appear nervous. People need to learn to approach wildlife cautiously watching for signs of distress. This photo showing the interaction between the calf and cow is my favorite and appears more dynamic in black and white because there is no distracting color so the focus is on the intersaction. Shot with Pentax K5 using Sigma 150-500mm lens at 170mm, f6.7, 1/250 sec. on Manfrotto Tripod and Ballhead.
