Lightroom Tips: Here’s How to Colorize B&W Photos and Create Interesting Effects (VIDEO)
A couple days ago we featured a Photoshop tutorial on how to make dramatic B&W conversions from color photographs. Today’s lesson takes the reverse approach, demonstrating how to colorize B&W photographs for interesting effects.
Image-editing expert Nathaniel Dodson provides a detailed explanation of a technique that’s easy to accomplish using Lightroom’s Adjustment Brush to “paint in” color, tone, highlights and shadows for a realistic-looking color image. Dodson also demonstrates how to boost the power of the Adjust Brush and reduce the opacity of different portions of your photograph.
While a bit longer than some of the Dodson tutorials we post, this one is very straightforward and yields impressive results. You can find more editing tips on the Tutvid YouTube channel, and be sure to watch Wednesday’s tutorial on making dramatic high-contrast B&W conversions from color images.
