Give HDR Photography Another Chance with Photomatix Pro and It’s Natural Looking Results

High dynamic range photography was a really popular technique for awhile, until it fell out of favor in some circles because of heavy-handed processing that often resulted in surreal looking images that were over-saturated, too contrasty, and over-sharpened.

Of course the HDR approach doesn’t have to be destructive of image quality, whether it’s achieved by using software, by merging multiple images of varying exposure settings, or some combination of the two.

For those who want to give HDR imaging a try, the folks at HDR Soft created Photomatix Pro—an affordable, easy to use prorgam for Windows and Mac that delivers realistic, natural looking results. The $99 software package works as a standalone application and includes a plug-in for Lightroom and Photoshop Elements.

The program includes advanced features like batch processing and selective de-ghosting, and enables you to achieve natural and more “artistic” effects as you can see with these gorgeous images from the HDR Soft user gallery.
