Dan Root is a buddy of mine who is always doing something interesting photographically. His most recent project is a mind-bending series of black-and-white photos called Quadratis.

Canon has just unveiled a massive zoom lens for cinema cameras. Called the CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens, Canon is hailing it as the “world’s largest 4K ultra-telephoto zoom lens” for large-format, single-sensor cinema cameras. With a built-in, 1.5x extender, the focal length of the new lens translates to 75-1500mm.

We've covered a lot of exotic lenses being sold for exorbitant prices on eBay in the past– remember this $96K Nikon 6mm F/2.8 fisheye? – so this rare glass offering really caught our eye.  It’s a Nikon 13mm F/5.6 wide-angle lens currently drawing a maximum $18,099 bit on eBay. Ricoh Imaging has just unveiled the new rugged and waterproof WG-30W compact camera. The latest addition to the well-known WG series of tough cameras – which used to carry the Pentax brand that’s now owned by Ricoh – the 16-megapixel WG-30W features built-in WiFi connectivity and a snazzy, rough-and-tumble build.
