No, nature and nature photography are sometimes gruesome to behold. I comfort myself with the fact that hawks have to eat, too. My husband (aka photog's pack mule:)and I were walking through a wetland area when my husband whispered as loudly as he dared that I should back up and look to the right: couldn't believe I was seeing a Red-tailed Hawk feasting on a smaller denizen of the wetlands (looked like either large sparrow or female Red-winged Blackbird -- never dared to try for closer look because this hawk was ready to take off any second, and did. The hawk did not leave its meal behind.
Used my Canon 5D Mark IV, 70-200mm lens at 200mm (how I wished I had my 400mm with me!) and exposure at: ISO 1250, f/7.1, 1/100.
