I'm retired, and so spend more time now on the banks of Lake Washington watching the seabirds. When this seagull began dipping in and out of the water I knew she was likely to stretch her wings, so I focused and waited (did I mention patience is more important than what camera you use?). Seagulls may be common, but they're still beautiful to behold.
I used my Canon 5D Mark III, 400mm lens, and exposure was: ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/1600 (fast enough to hope to stop the wing action).
