Stopped by my friend Jason Newburg's hanger on a very calm April day and he was installing a new airshow smoke system on this Extra 300.
He told me that he had an idea for a cool photo. So the airport manager and I went to the center of the runway at the 1000 ft mark and I got on my knees on the center line and Jason held the brakes and built the billowing smoke then he release the brakes and came flying towards us....lifting off just as the camera clicked on this frame and flew over our heads.
This was shot with a Nikon D800 with a 70-200 mm f2.8 at 1/250.
