I was at Assateague Island National Seashore this past summer (2015) when I headed out to the marshlands. I wanted to capture some of the vast wildlife that inhabits the area. As the sun began to rise, I noticed the birds would flock by fairly quickly. I wanted to capture that movement, but keep everything else sharp in the picture, so I set up my tripod and just waited until they would start off. After three or four tries I ended up with what I wanted. Doing this shot at sunrise gave the water this nice orange glow and focusing on the tall grass in the water gave this almost abstract feel to the image.
I shot this with a Nikon D7000 with a 200mm focal length while set to f11 with an ISO of 100.
