My first (of many trips since) to the Circle B Bar Reserve in Florida. We had just entered the trail when a Sandhill Crane family appeared to the left of the trail about 100 feet away. In a very few minutes the pair and their new colts (so called because their legs are so well developed they look like horses calves)moved within a few feet of the trail. The pair of colts seemed to be heavily engaged in some discussion (which we could not hear) but set the stage for this shot. The family soon moved on back out into the field and we continued on to enjoy this highly diverse ecosystem. Taken with Canon 7D, 70-200 mm with 1.4 extender, 280mm. f5.7, 1/200 at ISO 400.
