This image by Gary Larsen was made at Split Rock Falls in the Adirondack State Park of Upstate NY. I was struck by the turquoise tones in the snow. It shows just a portion of the falls as they flowed under the accumulated ice and snow. It took descending to a very precarious position to get this view. It was made with a Nikon D700 using a Nikkor 35-70mm lens at 70mm on a Manfrotto Carbon One tripod. The exposure was at ISO 100 at f/22 and 1/13 second. There was a circular polarizer on the lens. Post-processing was done in Photoshop CS5 with very careful control on the highlights to add a little saturation and then minor sharpening.
