Every year the Mayan school Tumul K'in in southern Belize hosts a week long cultural celebration. The opening ceremony, conducted a midnight in the archaeological site of Lubantuun, consists of a good-luck blessing performed by a Mayan shaman. This photograph was taken near the end of the blessing as copal incense was thrown into the fire.
