The zebra was in an enclosure at the Columbus, Ohio Zoo. The moat reflecting its image is a natural barrier replacing the need for a fence. The illusion of freedom for the captive zebra is more for the zoo visitors than for the animal. My purpose in making this image was to enhance the illusion, by positioning myself to include a reflection with an open sky.
