During the Birds of Prey Program at Callaway Gardens, GA., a Great Horned Owl flew over the audience at head level. I saw it coming directly at me and hoped to get a sharp close-up photo of the bird in flight at eye-level. My camera was set on autofocus rather than on manual/preset focus. The owl was coming way too fast for the focus to lock onto it. In retrospect, the blurred bird was a better representation of my actual experience than a sharply focused owl would have been. At the time I fired the shutter, I couldn't tell if it's tail feathers had brushed the top of my head before or after I pressed the shutter button...luckily it was after.
