We came across a family of mountain goats while trail running over Gunsight Pass to Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. Clearly, the two males pictured here were blocking the trail so I had an opportunity to observe while we waited for them to pass. What I love about this image is the dominant expression of the alpha male. He never charged the younger male. All it took was eye contact and a subtle scrape of his hoof against the ground.
