This train is a replica of the trains used by the British Soldiers to transport Boer Women, children and the elderly to concentration camps where they were held under terrible conditions during the Anglo Boer War. Notice the carts have no roofing and the passengers were transported for hundreds of kilometers day and night . Many women and children died during these journeys. This all formed part of Lord Kitchener's strategy of "Scorched Earth".
This train is parked at the Women's Memorial in Bloemfontein.
