I am always amused when I see this photo. It was taken in April 2017 when my wife and I went to Santa Clara, California to look after our grandchildren while our daughter and her husband attended a business meeting. One of the days we were there I drove to the coast to take some landscape photos while my wife watched the kids. I stopped at Natural Bridges State Park (Santa Cruz) on the way home and captured this silhouette photo of pelicans and cormorants when the sun was getting low in the sky at 6:36 pm. I get amused by it because it appears to be a cult gathering of the birds to ceremoniously watch the sun move towards sunset. While they are all watching with their eyes glued to the horizon a pelican makes an awkward landing to join them that I was able to catch with the camera. The camera used was a Nikon D750 set to continuous shutter and focus, fitted with a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. Shutter speed was 1/4000 sec. to stop motion, f/5 aperture was used with a 200mm focal length and ISO 900. An Induro Stealth CLT403 tripod was also used with a Wimberly WH-200 gimbal head.
