Photography, true photography is beyond just "pretty pictures". The photographer must examine both the outer world for substance and their inner world for guidance and inspiration. Expression, in the form of capturing an image, is nothing without what some call spirit, others zen. I leave it to the viewer to define their own explanation and terminology for what that inner voice is. As for me, I continue to hungrily look and express myself through the lens because it truly is nothing more than an extension of me. Our world is full of things. Things that inspire, things that terrify and things that are simple. What could be simpler than a river running though the land, Ogden Canyon on this particular morning. Feel the wind, cool and strong whipping through the morning canyon. See the water erupting from the mountain and tumbling down, eager to join the river rushing by. And there, gradually losing the war of erosion with the water, are boulders. Unmovable objects being attacked by forces that never seem to stop. What a contrast, and I suppose this is what drew me there. Irresistible force against unmovable object and I will be dust long before this battle has ended. But in the interim I pause to capture this timeless struggle...Summer's Falls
