The Anza-Borrego Desert badlands in early winter endure storms that sweep in off the sea as well as down from the north; this image looking northwest to the Salton Sea was made at sundown as the sky and storm combined to throw the clouds and badlands into relief. Nikon D700, ISO 200, 2.5/105 micro at f16, Nikon polarizer, cable release, Manfrotto tripod. That landscape the clouds and sea are never far from me; the image from a raw save, converted and toned with Efex Pro 2, is a way to honor the place and time.
